Medium

Medium is an online publishing platform that allows content creators to share their thoughts and help readers with free valuable content in various niches.

The Problem

Medium has lots of diverse Saas content, however most of it lacks depth, is very short (no more than 1,000 words,) and is inconsistent in quality, which makes most of the blogs on the platform completely invisible. On top of that, I noticed that most articles on Medium lacked:

  • SEO optimization
  • High-quality visuals
  • Search intent consideration
  • Content strategy
  • Reputable sources
  • Strong headlines
  • Attention to details

The Solution

My solution to write an article that gets more interactions was to start with a suitable content and SEO strategy.

I started by asking myself: ”What is a topic that can help my Saas audience solve a pressing pain point they have?”

The idea I came up with was writing a blog about project management tools, in a detailed review between arguably the two best software.

Project management is always a hot topic because it can easily make or break your business. Which means that choosing the right software for your specific business is critical.

I decided to write a detailed but comprehensible, face-to-face review with real-life examples to put each software’s pros and cons against each other.

Once I had the topic, I did an extensive research, which allowed me to:

Nail the search intent for the target keyword (project management)

Find a long-tail keyword with high monthly searches and low difficulty (using SEMrush)

Have at least 3 reputable sources to increase my article’s authority

Have unique bits of information to make my article unique from the rest

On top of that, I also added:

Accurate formatting to improve readability

A table of contents for skimming

All the SEO best practices (meta description, alt text, suitable keyword density, and the main keyword in the H1, H2s, and first paragraph)

Animated graphs and high-quality images

A strong CTA to make people engage

Detailed editing with Grammarly and Hemingway

The Results

After publishing the article, the content has achieved:

Increased followers

Increased likes and comments

Positive comments from people in the industry

Increased views
