Medium

Medium is an online publishing platform that allows content creators to share their thoughts and help readers with free valuable content in various niches.

The Problem

Medium has lots of content about supplements however, most of it lacks depth, is very short (no more than 1,000 words,) and is inconsistent in quality, which makes most of the blogs on the platform completely invisible. On top of that, I noticed that most Supplementation articles on Medium lacked:

  • SEO optimization
  • High-quality visuals
  • Backed-up claims
  • Search intent consideration
  • Content strategy
  • Reputable sources
  • Strong headlines
  • Attention to details
  • Structure
  • In-depth research

The Solution

I started with an accurate content and SEO strategy to get more traffic and engagement for this article.

I asked myself: ”What is an interesting topic about supplements that can help my audience solve a pressing pain point they have?”

The idea I came up with was to write a blog about which supplements people ACTUALLY need.

Most supplement companies market their products as miraculous and necessary, but that’s rarely true.

You need a lot less supplements than you actually think.

This topic piques my reader’s attention because they most likely have tried or are going to try a bunch of supplements.

Also, they’re unsure whether they actually need supplements to improve health and performance or if they’re placebo.

Once I had the topic, I did an extensive research, which allowed me to:

Nail the search intent for the target keyword (workout supplements)

Find a long-tail keyword with high monthly searches and low difficulty (using SEMrush)

Have at least 3 reputable sources to increase my article’s authority

Have unique bits of information to make my article unique from the rest

On top of that, I also added:

Proper formatting to improve readability

A table of contents for skimming

All the SEO best practices (meta description, alt text, proper keyword density, and the main keyword in the H1, H2s, and first paragraph)

Animated graphs and high-quality images

A strong CTA to make people engage

Accurate editing with Grammarly and Hemingway

The Outcome

After publishing the article, the content has achieved:

Increased followers

Increased likes and comments

Positive comments from people in the industry

Increased views
